It was so great catching up with everyone this week and hearing stories about the Winter Break!

This week we took some time to look far north of Calgary and explore the Arctic region. We read the story 'Our First Caribou Hunt' by Jennifer Noah and Chris Giroux, and learned about Inuit hunting practices and the proper treatment of game. The two children try hard to follow their father's advice about how Inuit traditionally hunted on the land. We learned about basic, practical hunting techniques as well as traditional values around the treatment of animals and the importance of sharing food with their community.
We also learned about the inuksuk.
