We took advantage of the beautiful Spring weather to continue exploring and learning about measurement. We reviewed how to properly use a ruler, tape measure and meter stick to ensure that we were measuring accurately - make sure that the end of the object is at the '0' and be precise when determining how long the object is. Our outdoor measuring activity came home in your child's communication folder - ask them to tell you all about their learning!

- understand that communities and businesses can trade to increase and availability of goods by - buying or importing and selling or exporting
- understand that natural resources and goods are transported and traded across Canada and the world in various ways; for example, by trains, airplanes, trucks, pipelines
This week we continued to learn more about many of Canada's important natural resources and how these natural resources impact the jobs that are available for people. We added many little natural resources icons to our map of Canada to show which provinces were known for what natural resources. For example, we placed icons such as oil pump jacks, wheat, and livestock for Alberta and icons such as a mining cart for the potash resources in Saskatchewan. Looping back to our mapping conversations from the beginning of the year we talked about the importance of adding a legend or key to our map to help with understanding. We also learned about imports (things that we buy / bring into Canada) and exports (things that we sell / send out of Canada).
